A policewoman in Xinjiang's newly-established special force is in training on Wednesday, April 9, 2008. The special team, with all female members, has recently been set up in Urumqi.

A special force team of female soldiers has recently been set up in Urumqi, the capital of northwestern China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, expected to conduct reconnaissance, assault in the anti-terrorism struggles as well as other risky and challenging missions.

In time of peace, the female special police force will be responsible for maintaining stability and handling other challenging situations, reported China News Service on Wednesday.

The female troop, the first of such kind in the region, is the third female armed police team in China, following the establishment of Sichuan Provincial Corps and a female special police team with Chinese People's Armed Police Forces Academy.
