Eleven people have been confirmed dead in a landslide-triggered cave-in on a construction site of a primary school in north China's Shanxi Province on Sunday.

By 8:00 PM Monday, one person is still missing with little hope of survival and the only survivor has been out of danger after treatment in hospital, said Guo Jianli, vice mayor of Hejin City where the accident occurred.

The sudden landslide hit Banpo Village, Xiahua Town at around 11:30 AM on Sunday, 300 kilometers southwest of provincial capital Taiyuan, which destroyed a classroom building of Banpo Primary School and an office building of the village committee, leaving 13 workers on the construction site buried under debris.

Rescuers said the 13 workers have been identified and they still continue searching for the last missing worker.
