Shanxi: Death Toll Rises to 9 After Construction Site Cave-in
Adjust font size:

Rescuers have recovered nine bodies after a landslide on Sunday buried 13 workers on a construction site in Hejin, a city in north China's Shanxi Province.

Only one person has survived the accident and three were still missing at midday Monday, said an official with the city government surnamed Chai.

The survivor has been seriously injured and still in critical condition, he said without elaborating.

Rescue work was continuing Monday but rescuers said they saw little chance of the three missing workers surviving.

The accident occurred at around 11:30 AM on Sunday at Banpo Primary School in Xiahua Town, 300 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Taiyuan.
