China has protested the meeting of some French parliamentarians with a representative of the so-called "Office of Dalai Lama in Nepal", The Kathmandu Post reported on Saturday.
Some French parliamentarians, who came to Kathmandu to observe the Constituent Assembly election, have recently met the "representative" of the so-called "Office of Dalai Lama in Nepal" using the diplomatic car of the French Ambassador to Nepal.
During the meeting, the parliamentarians presented the "Snow Lion Flag" which symbolizes "Tibet independence" to the "representative" and also made remarks of supporting and encouraging the separatist activities of the "Tibet independence" elements.
The meeting and some pictures have been disclosed by Nepali media.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zheng Xianglin wrote an official letter Friday to French Ambassador in Nepal, saying the parliamentarians' act was overt support of the separatist activities and interference with China's internal affairs.
"We express our strong protest against that," wrote Zheng.
The Chinese ambassador said the Tibet issue is China's internal affair, and no country should intervene or meddle in this issue.
It is good that the observers from France came to observe the election held in Nepal. However, they took advantage of this opportunity to meet the separatist and supported "Tibet independence" publicly, he wrote, expressing firm opposition to such deeds.
