Residents in south China's Yunnan Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region felt tremors after a 7.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Myanmar, which borders Yunnan on the west and southwest.
Buildings shook for over a minute, reported some villagers in the Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan.
In Nanning City, capital of Guangxi, many residents evacuated from buildings after they felt the tremors.
Authorities of Yunnan and Guangxi are investigating losses and possible casualties from the quake.
The quake's damage in China remains unknown and no casualty has been reported so far.
The earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale jolted Myanmar at 9:55 p.m.(Beijing Time) Thursday, according to the China Earthquake Network Center.
The epicenter, with a depth of 20 km, was monitored at 20.8 degrees north latitude and 99.8 degrees east longitude, the center said in a statement.
