Liu Zhuozhi, former vice chairman of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was officially removed from his post Thursday for alleged "severe disciplinary violations," said the region's legislature.
The Standing Committee of the People's Congress in Inner Mongolia held a meeting Thursday to vote on Liu's removal, the committee said in a statement.
According to the statement, Liu is currently being investigated for "severe disciplinary violations." The statement did not give further details.
A spokesman for the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee's Organization Department last month revealed Liu's dismissal.
The spokesman said Liu's case was being handled "in accordance with procedures." The vote Thursday was a part of those legal procedures.
