Chinese shares close higher at midday Thursday

China's stocks closed higher in the morning trading session Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.2 percent to 2,917.21.

The Shenzhen Component Index ended at 12,909.19, up 0.62 percent, at midday.
