Chinese equities closed mixed midday on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gaining 0.16 percent, or 4.58 points, to 2,939.76 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 0.11 percent, or 13.12 points, to 11,934.22 points.
China First Heavy Industries, a leading Chinese heavy industry manufacturer, closed at 5.53 yuan (0.81 U.S. dollar) per share in the morning trade for its debut at the Shanghai Stock Exchange, breaking its initial public offering (IPO) price of 5.7 yuan per share.
