Two tremors of 6.4 and 5.9 on the Richter scale hit off Udu point, the northernmost point of the Fiji chain, Sunday morning, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage, Fiji's weather office said.
Fiji's Nadi Weather Office said a magnitude of 6.4 occurred at 10:49 a.m. local time with a depth of 100.1 miles (160 km) below sea level while another tremor 5.9 magnitude followed at a depth of 8.3 miles (some 13.4 km) below sea level.
Reports said the tremors were felt in Fiji's northeastern Lambasa and Savusavu areas.
Tremors were felt and lasted for about five seconds in Urata Village in Savusavu, Basoga and Voloca Settlement in Lambasa, according to local media Fijivillage website.
