PetroChina, the nation's largest oil producer, said on Tuesday it had prepared 20,000 tonnes of fuel for shipment to assist quake relief work in Japan.
The 10,000 tonnes of gasoline and 10,000 tonnes of diesel produced by PetroChina's Dalian Petrochemical were anchored at its port and will be shipped to Japan after relevant procedures were completed.
No specific date for shipment is available.
China's fuel assistance to Japan, where a 9.0-magnitude earthquake and massive tsunami took place on March 11, is in response to requests made by the Japanese government. China had previously sent emergency humanitarian aid worth 30 million yuan to Japan.
The fuel will be shipped by a vessel owned by China Shipping Development Co., Ltd.
