5.7-magnitude quake hits near east coast of Honshu

An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted near the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 5:30 a.m. local time Wednesday (2030 GMT Tuesday), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 23.80 km, was initially determined to be at 35.2518 degrees north latitude and 141.1928 degrees east longitude.
