Brazil's military base in Haiti suffered no damage in the quake that hit Haiti in the early morning of Wednesday, according to First Lieutenant Luiz Claudio Ferreira of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) at the base, local media reported.
The quake measured 6.1 on the Richter scale and struck at a shallow depth of 9.9 km, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
At the time of the new tremor, Ferreira was in the field hospital set up next to the base.
"It was a very bad feeling; it felt like we were on a teeter-totter. The impression is that we have nowhere to run. But everyone is fine here in the Brazilian base where I am. Here we had no major effects," he said.
Ferreira also said there were no reports of injuries as a result of the aftershock in Haiti.
The first earthquake that hit Haiti on Jan. 12 was magnitude 7.0.
