US President Barack Obama visits China
Nov. 15-18, 2009, U.S. President Barack Obama paid a four-day state visit to China. President Hu Jintao and Obama engaged in in-depth, productive and candid discussions about China-US relations and other issues of mutual interest. The two countries reiterated, in a joint statement issued after the summit, their commitment to building a "positive, cooperative and comprehensive relationship in the 21st century" and promised to cooperatively cope with common challenges. Both sides agreed to take concrete actions to steadily build a partnership to address common challenges.
