Chinese President Hu Jintao returned to Beijing Saturday afternoon after a state visit to the United States.

During his stay in Washington, Hu held talks with U.S. President Barack Obama. The two leaders agreed to build a China-U.S. cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and mutual benefit.

They also issued a joint statement, which covers a range of issues such as strengthening bilateral relations, addressing regional and global challenges, building a comprehensive and mutually beneficial economic partnership, and cooperating on climate change, energy and the environment.

During his visit, Hu also met with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, U.S. Congressional leadership, and paid a visit to Chicago.

Hu arrived in the U.S. capital of Washington Tuesday for a four-day state visit. His last visit to the U.S. was in April 2006.
