11 ministers attend 'Friends of Syria' meeting in Istanbul

Foreign ministers from 11 Western and Arab countries attended "Friends of Syria" meeting here on Saturday to aid the Syrian opposition and explore a concrete action plan to end the two-year long conflict.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is set to officially announce a new non-lethal aid with 100 million U.S. dollars to the Syrian opposition during the meeting.

Meanwhile, humanitarian, political and military issues will be discussed at the donors' meeting, according to Turkish Foreign Ministry.

The meeting was attended by the "core group" of "Friends of Syria," including Turkey, the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

Representatives of the Syrian opposition coalition also participated in the close-door meeting held in Istanbul.
