Seven Japanese survivors and bodies of nine Japanese fatalities in a deadly hostage crisis in Algeria arrived in Japan Friday morning.

A total of 10 Japanese nationals were confirmed dead in the crisis and the 10th and last Japanese victim were confirmed late Thursday after a government aircraft sent to bring the survivors and the victims' bodies left Algiers, the capital of Algeria.

The survivors and the victims were all employees of the Japan Gasoline Company.

The Japanese government said it will bring the last victim's body back to Japan as soon as possible, vowing to take possible measures to better protect the Japanese nationals and companies overseas.
