Bahraini Prince Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad al-Khalifa on Saturday donated 1.3 million U.S. dollars to Syrian refugees who took shelter in Turkey after fleeing Syrian crisis.
"The things that Turkey does for the Syrian refugees deserve utmost respect," al-Khalifa was quoted as saying by the semi- official Anatolia News Agency at a ceremony organized by the Royal Charity Fund in Istanbul.
Carol Batchelor, UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to Turkey, and representatives from aid organizations in Europe, the Middle East and Turkey have attended the ceremony to coordinate their humanitarian efforts in Syria.
"We are trying to organize our efforts, and our future planning will be made through this platform," said Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, head of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
