The newly formed Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces has chosen the Egyptian capital of Cairo as its permanent headquarters, official al-Ahram newspaper reported Thursday.
Moatez Shaqlab, a senior member of the coalition, was quoted by al-Ahram as saying that the bloc has also decided the address of its base in Cairo, and that it will hold a meeting here within ten days.
The coalition, set up after a formal agreement was signed Sunday evening among Syrian opposition factions convening in the Qatari capital of Doha, aims to form an interim government in exile once earns international approval.
The Arab League (AL) recognized Monday the newly-formed body as the "representative of the aspirations of Syrian people," after the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) earlier recognized it as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people.
