Visiting UN envoy for Syria crisis Lakhdar Brahimi on Saturday held talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, discussing political solution to the 19- month-old Syrian crisis.
The two sides did not reveal details of the closed-door meeting between Davutoglu and Brahimi, who traveled to Istanbul from Saudi Arabia amid growing tensions between Syria and its northern neighbor Turkey.
On Wednesday, Turkey intercepted a Syrian passenger plane en route from Moscow to Damascus and seized what it said was military equipment on board.
Syria denounced the move as air piracy and Russia said the shipment of radar parts complied with international law.
Meanwhile, Davutoglu met with Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi in Istanbul on Saturday.
The closed-door meeting between Davutoglu and al-Arabi lasted for 45 minutes.
