Warships, warplanes and ground- based air defense systems would be deployed for the security of the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Russia, a senior military adviser of the country said on Friday.

"Russian armed forces will provide security for the summit employing units of the Eastern Military District, anti-aircraft forces which use the S-400 Triumph System, Su-27SM, Su-30 and MiG- 31 fighters, warships and submarines," the head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Public Council, Igor Korotchenko, told the RIA Novosti news agency.

The 24th APEC summit will be held from Sept. 2 to 9 in Russia's Far Eastern city of Vladivostok. It is the first time for Russia to host a top-level APEC gathering.

Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East Viktor Ishayev said last week that Russia has been fully prepared to host the summit.

The Russian government allocated about 600 billion rubles ( about 18.8 billion U.S. dollars) for the preparations of the event. In Vladivostok, over 50 venues and facilities have been built from scratch, including the world's tallest, four-lane cable bridge linking to the nearby Russky Island, where most of the summit's meetings will be held.

Local authorities promised that over 620,000 residents in Vladivostok would be compensated for the inconveniences caused by the summit, such as occasional road closures and frequent ID checks on the streets.
