Hu Jintao holds talks with Mongolian president

Chinese President Hu Jintao held talks Thursday with Mongolian President Tsakhia Elbegdorj in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Hu exchanged views with Elbegdorj on further advancing ties between the two nations. The leaders also discussed issues of common concern.

Elbegdorj said China has played an important role in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He also congratulated China on successfully completing its term as the SCO's rotating presidency.

Hu held a welcoming ceremony for Elbegdorj before their talks.

Elbegdorj arrived in Beijing Wednesday afternoon to attend the 12th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the SCO which concluded in Beijing Thursday.
