Egyptian ex-president Hosni Mubarak's health is in a serious condition, official news agency MENA reported Wednesday.

Mubarak's health severely deteriorated Wednesday, his fifth day in Cairo's Torah prison, MENA said, adding that he was put on the ventilator for five times in the last few hours.

The prison called a medical team specialized in cardiology to examine Mubarak. The doctors found him suffering from nervous shock, severe depression and high blood pressure.

MENA quoted official sources as saying that Mubarak is likely to be transferred to a military hospital.

Mubarak, 84, was put in prison Saturday after the Cairo Criminal Court sentenced him to a life imprisonment for charges of complicity in killing protestors.
