A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Wednesday vowed to bolster relations between the CPC and the ruling Mozambique Liberation Front Party (FRELIMO) so as to further state-to-state ties.

Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the pledge during a meeting with Filipe Paunde, general secretary of the FRELIMO

Li hailed the current bilateral ties, highlighting frequent high-level visits, booming trade and humanitarian exchanges.

He said the CPC will work with the FRELIMO to explore new ways to further bilateral relations, which have endured the tests of time and changes in the international arena.

Paunde spoke highly of the relations between the two parties and countries, and voiced appreciation for China's support for his country's pursuit of independence and liberation.

Mozambique will step up cooperation with China on the basis of mutual benefit, he said.
