Francois Hollande arrived at the Elysee Palace in Paris Tuesday to be sworn in as the new French president.

He was greeted by the outgoing head of state Nicolas Sarkozy at the presidential palace and the two leaders headed into private talks after Hollande's arrival.

Hollande, who was elected president by beating Sarkozy in the May 6 run-off elections, will be declared president after the talks.
