All the reports about irregularities in the latest Russian presidential election must be thoroughly probed, Prime Minister and President-elect Vladimir Putin said Tuesday.
"Of course, there were violations. They all needed to be discovered, weeded and made clear to everyone," Putin said during a visit to the "Elections 2012" situation center.
Staffers at the center told Putin the reports they have received were not proven fraud, but complaints, and not all of them have been confirmed.
In response, the president-elect said all complaints should be investigated and referred to specialized agencies where they will be checked.
According to "Elections 2012", some 4500 complaints have been received before and during the Sunday's election.
Putin also said Monday that he would instruct the Central Election Commission (CEC) to investigate all possible violations during the vote when meeting with three election rivals, including A Just Russia leader Sergei Mironov, independent candidate Mikhail Prokhorov and Liberal Democratic Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
"I have not yet told (CEC Chairman Vladimir) Churov....I'm sure I would have a conversation with him, asking him to thoroughly probe into all possible violations that you spoke about," he told the three rivals.
Putin was elected for a third time in the Sunday's presidential election with about 64 percent of the votes.
