French President Nicolas Sarkozy will officialize his candidacy for presidential election scheduled for April on Wednesday, local media reported on Tuesday.
Citing source close to the presidency office, the Elysee, the local TV channel BFMTV said 57-year-old Sarkozy will announce his candidacy Wednesday evening during a TV interview to be held at the private channel TF1.
According to the report, Ecology Minister Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet will be named the spokeswoman of the candidate of France's main right political party, the Union for Popular Movement (UMP).
Sarkozy will meet his supporters during two meetings in Annecy, west France on Thursday and in the southern town of Marseille three days later in a move to appease electorate and garner enough votes to secure his place at the Elysee Palace.
