The visit of Cambodia's President of the National Assembly Heng Samrin to China from Dec. 4-10 was a "great success" in cementing the bilateral ties between the two countries' legislative bodies, said a senior parliamentarian on Monday.

"The visit had made stronger friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries' legislative bodies," Cheam Yeap, chairman of the National Assembly's Commission of Economy, Banking, Finance, and Audit, said in a press briefing to conclude Heng Samrin's visit to China.

"It was a fruitful visit; the two countries' legislative leaders had exchanged views and experiences on the development of legislation," he said. "Both sides pledged to give mutual help on international matters."

Meanwhile, Cheam Yeap hailed China for its great achievements in social and economic development.

"Our delegation has seen with own eyes the great development of China, and it is a good pattern for Cambodia to follow China's development footstep," he said.

Cambodia's parliamentary delegation led by Heng Samrin paid an official goodwill visit to China from Dec. 4-10.

During the stay, Heng Samrin held bilateral talks with China's top legislator Wu Bangguo and met with Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping.

He also visited the Northeast port city of Dalian and south China's economic powerhouse of Guangdong Province.
