The Arab League (AL) formulated proposed economic sanctions against Syria on Saturday at a meeting of finance ministers in Cairo.
The proposals include freezing the Syrian government's funds, halting the commercial business with the Syrian government except strategic commodities that affect the people's life, suspending flights to Syria, according to a statement issued after the meeting.
They also included the suspension of financial exchanges with the Syrian government.
The package of sanctions will be submitted to a meeting of foreign ministers on Sunday for approval.
The sanction recommendations came after Syria failed to sign an AL observe mission agreement within the deadline set by the pan-Arab body.
