Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), arrived in Tripoli, Libya on Tuesday to meet Libyan authorities following the arrest of Muammar Gaddafi's son Saif al-Islam, according to an ICC statement.
"Saif al-Islam Gaddafi and Abdullah Al-Senussi must face justice," Moreno-Ocampo said.
"I will talk to the national authorities and seek information about proposed national proceedings in order to assist us in analyzing the admissibility of the case," he added.
On Sunday, spokesman of Libya's ruling National Transitional Council (NTC) Abdul Hafid Ghoga told the press in Tripoli that Saif al-Islam would be tried in Libya rather than in the ICC in The Hague.
"The issue of where the trials will be held has to be resolved through consultations with the Court," said the ICC Prosecutor.
Saif al-Islam, the second son of Muammar Gaddafi, was wanted by the ICC on charges of crimes against humanity in cracking down anti-Gaddafi protests.
He was captured in the southern desert of Libya last week.
