The Afghan and NATO-led Coalition forces during operations in different parts of the country have killed 21 insurgents and detained 19 others over the past 24 hours, Afghan Interior Ministry said on Saturday.
"Afghan National Police (ANP), Afghan National Army and Coalition forces launched 10 joint operations in surrounding areas of the Kabul, Laghman, Parwan, Kandahar, Helmand, Nimroz, Zabul, Paktiya and Paktika province, killing 21 armed insurgents and detaining 19 others over the past 24 hours," the ministry said in a statement.
Four suspected insurgents were wounded in the same operation, the statement said, adding "During these operations, ANP also confiscated two pistols, 27 rifles, four AK-47 assault rifles, 40 boxes of machine gun bullets, 52 different types of mines, two vehicles and 120 kg narcotics."
Separately, a joint patrol of Afghan and coalition forces killed 17 insurgents in Narang district of country's eastern Kunar province Friday night, a spokesman with coalition forces in eastern region Sabawon Hotak told Xinhua on Saturday.
Afghan officials often use the word "insurgents" referring to Taliban militants, however, the militant group has yet to make comments.
