Russia is ready to help European countries resolve their debt problems if they could reach an agreed rescue plan, a Kremlin adviser said Monday.
"We are waiting for the European countries to announce an exact and plain strategy for getting out of the crisis," top Kremlin economic adviser Arkadi Dvorkovich said.
"If this strategy requires the support of Russia and other BRICS countries, we will be ready to offer such support," he added, referring to Brazil, India, China and South Africa.
Russia's possible participation in solving the eurozone crisis, he said, was discussed when Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Russian representatives to the International Monetary Found and the World Bank and former Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin met here earlier Monday with Spanish Finance Minister Elena Salgado.
During the meeting, the two sides also talked about Russia's possible acquisition of Spain's debt securities, Dvorkovich said.
