A Libyan officer believed to be a security service member of the topple Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was arrested in Tunisia's southern town of Douz, the official press agency TAP reported Saturday.
The army colonel, who illegally entered Tunisia a month ago using a forged identity card, was arrested Friday in an isolated house he rented in Douz, some 450 km from the Tunisian capital Tunis.
The man refused to stop at a security check point two days before the arrests, a suspect behavior that led him to be followed by the Tunisian security agents, TAP said.
No weapon was found in the man's house. The man will face trial soon, TAP said.
