The top lawmaker of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Yong Nam, met in Pyongyang on Thursday with a visiting delegation of South Korean religious leaders, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
However, the KCNA did not disclose any details of the meeting between the delegation and Kim, who is chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK.
The visiting South Korean delegation represents seven major religions.
According to the KCNA, a joint statement between the North and the South Religionists for National Reconciliation, Unity and Peaceful Reunification was made public at the meeting held in the Mansudae Assembly Hall.
The statement, which was in line with the will and common interests of the two countries, stressed the need to solve all problems and called on all Koreans across the world to make joint efforts for peace and reunification, it said.
