China's relationship with Algeria is a model of state-state relations and of south-south cooperation, a senior official of the Communist Party of China said in Algiers Wednesday when meeting with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

Wang Gang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and also vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), is leading a Chinese delegation on a visit to Algeria.

During the meeting, Wang hailed the profound traditional friendship between China and Algeria, as well as the ever- increasing political mutual trust between the two sides, the expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields and their close coordination in international affairs.

For his part, Bouteflika said he wishes the two countries to work together to further boost the all-around development of bilateral ties.

On the same day, Wang also met with Abdelaziz Ziari, president of Algeria's National People's Assembly, during which the Chinese official said that, with concerted efforts, the two countries have become good brothers in politics, good partners in trade and economic cooperation, and good friends in international affairs, since the establishment of diplomatic ties over 50 years ago.

The CPPCC highly values its friendly exchanges with the Algerian National People's Assembly, and is willing to further enhance exchanges and cooperation with it, Wang said.

The Chinese delegation is making the visit at the invitation of Algeria's national economic and social council, and will later visit Switzerland, Iceland and Italy, according to an earlier press release of the CPPCC.
