Syria's state-TV denied Friday what al-Jazeera TV described as mass protests in the southern province of Daraa, saying around 30 people, mostly kids, gathered in Daraa and dispersed in a short time.

The TV showed live footage of the area which seems empty with no signs of protests.

The TV also denied earlier reports by satellite TV stations that four people were killed Thursday overnight by the security forces, saying a teenager, Mahmoud Sweidan, 18 years old, was killed in the southern village of Nawa near Daraa by unknown party 's gunfire late Thursday.

In a related development, the TV said authorities dismantled two explosive devices in Daraa, adding the device was meant to explode near a law-enforcement forces' station to cause casualties among the forces.

In the northeastern city of Deir al-Zour, the TV said hundreds of families fled home, fearing the "armed groups" that terrorized people there, adding many streets of the city have been closed off by barricades set up by the armed groups.

Limited gathering were also seen Friday in some neighborhoods of the capital Damascus, the eastern town of al-Boukmal near Iraq' s border and dispersed in a short time, said the TV.
