The New York midtown hotel maid accusing former International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn of attempting to rape her has spoken out via media interviews.

The accuser, Nafissatou Diallo, said in an interview published at the website of the Newsweek magazine on Sunday, that the former IMF chief appeared naked when she entered his room.

"Oh, my God," recalled Diallo, who added she turned to leave after saying "I'am sorry." But Dominique Strauss-Kahn was then like a "crazy man" and assaulted her, according to Diallo's account.

In her interview with ABC News, Diallo, who can not read and write, also told Robin Roberts, anchor for "Good Morning America": "I want justice. I want him to go to jail. I want him to know that there is some place you cannot use your money, you cannot use your power when you do something like this."

ABC News on Sunday announced it would broadcast an interview with Diallo on Monday.

It is the first time the 32-year-old woman, an Guinean immigrant to the United States, has publicly spoken to the media since she shocked the world with allegations that Strauss-Kahn emerged naked from the bathroom of his luxury suite on May 14 and forced her to perform oral sex.

Strauss-Kahn, who was widely considered as a potentially successful French presidential candidate before the allegations, was pulled off a plane and arrested hours later. He has denied the charges.

Diallo's credibility was thrown into question when Manhattan prosecutors said she lied to them about her life story and what she did in the moments following the purported assault.
