China's top legislature Thursday ratified a treaty with Algeria on mutual judicial assistance in civil and commercial affairs.

The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) during a bimonthly session which concluded Thursday approved the pact, which was submitted by the State Council, or the cabinet.

The treaty was signed in Beijing by Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and his Algerian counterpart Mourad Medelci on Jan. 10, 2010.

The 31-item treaty covers bilateral judicial assistance in contact approach, delivering judicial documents, evidence collection, implementation of judgment documents, information exchange and dispute resolution.

China and Algeria established diplomatic ties on Dec. 20, 1958.
