Egypt's former interior minister Habib Ibrahim el-Adli was sentenced to 12 years in jail, state TV said on Thursday.

Adli was convicted of money laundering and profiteering by the Giza Criminal Court.

The former police chief was sacked shortly after the Jan. 25 mass protests which forced President Hosni Mubarak to step down on Feb.11. Adli was the first senior official of the former government to get a sentence over corruption.
