Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will lead a business delegation on a two-day visit to Hong Kong on April 16 at the invitation of the special administrative region's Chief Executive Donald Tsang, according to the local government's website on Friday.
Medvedev is the first Russian president to visit the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He will meet Tsang in a bilateral meeting before attending a luncheon at Government House.
Tsang, who visited Moscow last August and invited Medvedev to visit Hong Kong, said the visit will be a big boost to the bilateral relationship between Hong Kong and Russia.
Annual bilateral trade between the two sides has grown at an average rate of 25 percent since 2006. Last year it surged more than 60 percent.
Russian tourists have been granted visa-free access to Hong Kong since mid-2009. Last year 87,000 Russian visitors came to the city, doubling the figure of 2009.
