UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday said that all the international staff members working for the world organization has been pulled out of Libya two days ago.
The secretary-general made the announcement as he was speaking to the UN General Assembly when the 192-member UN body was meeting to consider the suspension of Libya's membership in the UN Human Rights Council.
After the withdrawal, the United Nations will operate from a secondary base in the region, Ban said.
There were less than 30 international staff members working for the United Nations in Libya, undertaking such work as rendering humanitarian assistance to the needy people in the North African country.
The UN evacuation came as many countries are withdrawing their nationals from Libya out of security concerns.
