A second group of 372 Chinese evacuated from riot-torn Libya entered Egypt at midnight Thursday and immediately headed for Cairo to catch a plane home.

All of the evacuated are construction managers and workers with Chinese companies operating in Libya. They are expected to board a flight at Cairo International Airport to return home later Thursday.

They set off from Al Marj in east Libya and travelled for six hours to reach the boarder.

Liu Xinyu, an employee at China State Construction Engineering Co. Ltd. who was among the evacuated, said he was deeply moved by the work efficiency of the Chinese embassy there, adding he was proud as a Chinese citizen.

Since Feb. 21, the unrest in Libya has driven tens of thousands of Egyptians and other foreigners living in the country to Salum each day, putting great pressure on Egyptian customs authorities and slowing the normal entry procedures.

The Chinese embassy in Egypt has been in constant contact with Egyptian authorities, including its interior ministry, to ensure the smooth evacuation of Chinese citizens.
