At least seven people, including two kids, were killed and over a dozen others injured after an explosive-laden car went off on Wednesday near a police station in the outskirts of Peshawar, main city in northwest Pakistan, police sources said.

The blast took place in a Charade car in front of an old police station in Budhbir town of Peshawar. Police cordoned off the area and started investigation.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene and transferred the injured to a nearby government-run hospital, where emergency was declared. Doctors said that two children were among the dead. It is feared that the death toll could rise.

According to local TV channels reports, the blast caused damage to several vehicles and some nearby buildings.
