UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon on Monday condemned the deadly suicide bombing at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport, which killed at least 35 people and injured more than 152 others, UN spokesman Farhan Haq told reporters.
The secretary-general is "appalled" by the incident and " condemns this deplorable and unjustifiable act of violence against innocents," said Haq.
Ban "conveys his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and his solidarity with the government and the people of the Russian Federation," said Haq.
The Russian state-run news agency ITAR-TASS said a suicide bomber was responsible for the explosion.
Meanwhile, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev called for an emergency meeting with security chiefs at the Kremlin to discuss the situation. Medvedev postponed his trip to the annual World Economic Forum meeting set to kick off on Wednesday in Davos, Switzerland.
