The death toll from floods and landslides in Brazil has risen to 806, as rescue workers continued to search for survivors, authorities said on Sunday.
The floods and landslides caused by heavy storms that hit southeastern Brazil on Jan. 11 forced more than 20,000 people to leave their homes, the government said.
About 200 people were still missing and the death toll could reach 1,000 this week, authorities said.
Health Minister Alexandre Padilha, who visited Nova Friburgo, the worst -affected city, warned on Saturday of outbreaks of infectious diseases.
