Rescuers have retrieved bodies of 11 people in Egypt's southern city of Minya after a bus carrying more than 60 people overturned in floodwater, local media reported Friday.
"Rescuers and civil defense authorities retrieved bodies of eight girls, all younger than 14, the driver, co-driver and a teacher from the water near el-Barsha village in Minya," the Egyptian Gazette newspaper quoted a security official as saying.
The bus, carrying pupils and teachers from a school in Assiut, was on its way back from a travel in Minya when it overturned in a valley full of rainwater, it said.
Some 43 girls were rescued and five are still under treatment. The search for another girl who went missing in the accident continued on Thursday, the security source said.
