China reaffirmed Thursday it supports the rightful claims of African countries in addressing climate change, and value the concerns of African countries in long-term emission cut targets.

China and African countries hold in-depth exchanges of views on global climate change negotiations, to safeguard the common interests of developing countries, according to a white paper on China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation issued by the State Council Information Office.

The Chinese government has promised to offer funds, technology and capacity building to help African nations develop new energy.

At present, China has formed cooperation plans in bio-gas technology, hydro power, solar power and wind power with some African countries, the white paper said.

Meanwhile, China has also strengthened cooperation and mutual support in fields, such as satellite weather monitoring, development and use of new energy, prevention and control of decertification and urban environmental protection, according to the white paper.
