Lebanon filed a complaint to the United Nations Security Council about two espionage devices placed by Israel in Lebanon's mountainous regions, the Lebanese foreign ministry said over the weekend.
The Lebanese army found the devices in the Sannine Mountain, northeast of Beirut, and the Barouk Mountain, east of the capital last week following a tip from Lebanese Shiite armed group Hezbollah.
The device on Mount Sannine was made up of emission and reception components and the second device found in Barouk was " more sophisticated," according to the army.
"Israel installed two espionage devices in the regions of Barouk and Sannine serving as a link between Israeli spy stations in Lebanon and the [Israeli] border post of Rouweisat al-Alam," the Lebanese foreign ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said the installation of the spying devices was "a blatant violation of the Lebanese sovereignty, international law and Security Council Resolution 1701," which put an end to the 2006 summer war.
The Lebanese army and Hezbollah have closely cooperated to uncover Israel's numerous spy rings in Lebanon. Hezbollah also accuses Israel of infiltrating into the country's telecommunication sector.
Earlier this month, the Israeli army detonated two spy devices in south Lebanon after Hezbollah uncovered their location near the port city of Tyre.
Since 2009, more than 100 individuals were arrested in Lebanon on suspicion of collaborating with Israel, including high raking military officials and employees in the telecommunications sector.
