The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) lashed out at the United States Thursday for sidestepping proposals for dialogue, the official news agency KCNA reported.

The DPRK Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the United States was keen on stirring up a war atmosphere on the Korean Peninsula while persistently sidestepping proposals for dialogue with all kinds of preconditions.

By adopting such an attitude, the United States aimed to "obstruct the economic construction in the DPRK and establish a military domination on it and thus use its military deterrence against its neighboring countries," the statement said.

The history and the reality proved that it was none other than the United States that has systematically breached all international agreements calling for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, the statement said.

The DPRK supports all proposals for dialogue, including the six-party talks, prompted by the desire to prevent a war and realize denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, the statement added.
