A total of 38 people were killed and 50 others were wounded in a suicide attack in southeastern Iran on Wednesday, the local satellite Press TV reported.
At least 38 people, who gathered in a mosque for a mourning ceremony on the religious occasion of Tasua, were killed in a terror attack in the southeastern Iranian city of Chabahar, said Press TV.
Also, according to the official IRNA news agency, Director General of Sistan-Baluchestan provincial Forensic Medicine Office Fariborz Ayati said the dead bodies of 38 victims of the terrorist blast have been delivered to his office. Some women and children were among the victims.
The attack occurred in front of the Imam Hussein mosque in Chabahar when the mourners were attending the ceremony.
Iranian Red Crescent Society chief Mahmoud Mozaffar said over 50 people have also been injured in the attack, said Press TV.
According to earlier report by ISNA, the explosion occurred at 10:30 a.m. local time (0700 GMT) when people were gathering in front of the governor's office building of Chabahar in Sistan- Baluchestan province for the mourning ceremony and the explosion took place close to an emergency car of the Red Crescent Society.
During the past three days, there had been threats of bomb attacks against mourners in Sistan-Baluchestan, and the emergency workers have been on alert, Mozaffar was quoted as saying, adding that among the injured, six were emergency workers.
Meanwhile, the state IRINN TV said three suicide attackers were involved in the bombing, only one of them succeeded, the second was shot wounded, and the last was arrested.
Earlier report by the local Fars news agency said there had been two separate suicide bombing attacks in Chabahar, one in front of the governor's office building and the other close to the emergency car of the Red Crescent Society.
