4 Taliban arrested as police foils terrorist plan in Karachi

Anti-terrorism police in the Pakistani port city of Karachi arrested four Taliban militants, who were planning attacks in the city, senior police officers said Tuesday.
The Central Investigation Department (CID) police also recovered three suicide jackets, explosives and two Klashnikovs from the arrested members of the Tehrik-e-Taliban, Senior Superintendent Police Omar Aslam said.
He said that the arrested militants belonged to Karachi but got training in South Waziristan tribal region.
"They recently returned from Waziristan for terrorist attacks in Karachi," another police officer Omar Shahid said.
The militants were arrested from Sohrab Goth area of Karachi on a tip, he said, adding that the militants wanted to target sensitive buildings, police offices and shrines. They were also planning attacks on Shiite Muslims in the coming month.
Amanuddin, Muhammad Omar, Barkatullah, and Ehsanullah are being questioned for their plans, the police officers told a news conference. Amanuddin is believed to be the leader of the group.
The police men showed suicide jackets, explosives and automatic guns to the journalists.
